If you’re not already familiar with the terminology in Capture One, it is important to understand what Styles and Presets are.
Styles are a collection of settings that can control multiple adjustments at once. In other words, applying a Style will set lots of different parameters on your image. If you’re coming from Lightroom, Styles in Capture One are the same as Lightroom’s Develop Presets.
You can apply a style to an image from the Adjustments menu:
Adjustments > Styles > User Styles > [Style Name]
Presets on the other hand, are settings for a single adjustment. These settings are found in the pop-up menu that is on the top corner of individual adjustments. For my SilverLUX collection, for example, the supplied presets are for the Film Grain adjustment, which is found in the Details panel.
To apply one of the film grain presets, click on the pop-up menu, and choose SilverLUX Grain from this menu, and then select one of the presets from the sub menu.
